Don’t miss out on some of the city’s famous architectural sites such as the Metropolitan Cathedral where you can appreciate baroque and neo classical architecture. Here you’ll also come across mural paintings by famous artist Diego Rivera. Browse the National Palace and you’ll see patios, corridors and stairways adorned with impressive murals again by Diego Rivera, depicting the history of Mexico.
Pan through the ruins of the ancient Aztec Major Temple, see the centuries-old woods of Chapultepec Park and some of the important residential zones of the city.
Take a trip to the National Palace where you will see beautiful murals painted by the great muralist Diego Riviera. Further on, proceed to the Constitution Square, also known as Central Plaza or Zocalo, a massive concrete area signed with a giant flag. Inside the underground Zocalo station, you’ll see historical reproductions of the Square, exhibits of ceremonial offerings and stone statues of goddesses among others.
Continue to the Metropolitan Cathedral which represents a synthesis of art forms in New Spain. The church has a baroque and neo classical façade, its Altar of Forgiveness, the sacristy, and the Altar of Kings are worth looking out for!
Also visit the Aztec Major Temple, an ancient temple ruins discovered in 1978 while workers were digging to place underground electric cables. In addition to the main avenues, you will also visit Chapultepec Park, noteworthy for its centuries-old forest which encircles the Chapultepec Hill and for the castle which crowns its summit. Explore the most important residential zones of the city and the Pink Zone (Zona Rosa).
Head back to Mexico City at the end of the tour.
