A great day out, 2 hrs travelling in a mini bus from Orlando to Clearwater, with a very friendly ,knowledgable tour guide. We were booked onto the Dolphin spotter boat, only for the guide to cancel it and book us on to the Sea Screamer, the largest speedboat in the world!!! which also doubles up as a Dolphin watching tour aswell. We were so glad he did, as the exhillarating boat ride with loads of Dolphins jumping through our wake was awesome. This is a very highly recommended trip, and id go back and do it again anytime.
We were picked up on time at the big orange on 192 and taken to our coach. We had a great driver who was very entertaining. The Clearwater beach is beautiful and we had a great time looking around the shops and pier before we headed out into the bay for our dolphin spotting trip. Our captain was very knowledgable about the area and showed us some celebrity houses! ( John travolta, hulk hogan, Nigel mansell) we managed to see a pair of dolphins and the captain steered our boat so we could track them, it was great to see them in their natural environment instead of in captivity! Overall it was a great experience and I would recommend it to anyone. It was good value for money (£55 each) with transport, snacks, and dolphin cruise all included. Well worth it!
Absolutly brilliant morning out I was worried that I had been unable to confirm my booking before the day but the bus turned up on time and there was no problem getting on it. I was in the lucky postion of sitting in the front seat with the driver/guide so was able not only to get the lowdown on the trip but chatted throughout with her as Amy (Dragon) was extremely friendly and approachable. She also showed an enthusiam that sometimes can disappear when guiding the same trip over several months. Although I didn't see much in the way of alligators that day it was a joy to get away from the crowds at the theme parks and feel I saw a bit of REAL Florida thanks to Amy and the excursion in general.
Best things to do: Take your pick from the many resorts and theme parks! There’s Universal Orlando, Walt Disney World® Resort, the Epcot, and SeaWorld Orlando. To name but a few. The outlet shopping is very good and there’s even a Gatorland! Making an Orlando boat tour the perfect way to take a break from all the resort fun!
When it is best to visit: With its sub-tropical climate, that’ll be hot sultry summers and dry winters your best time to visit is between October and May. During this time the weather is more favourable than the high heat of summer. Funnily August is when they get the most rainfall on average, so that’s the month to avoid unless you like the rain of course!
How safe is Orlando: You’ll spend the majority of your time in the resorts and theme parks, which will be very safe. Any criminal activity is confined to the neighbourhoods, which in general you wouldn’t be visiting anyway.
• Not only do you have the cruise, but you’ll also find that Orlando has over 100 lakes. One of these Lake Eola is actually a giant sinkhole with its deepest point being some 80 feet deep.
• The fountain in Lake Eola is the Linton E.Allen Memorial Fountain. It’s the official symbol of the City of Orlando.
• The Orlando wetlands, located in east Orlando County are home to over 30 endangered wildlife species. If you visit, you are heading into a very special and important conservational place.
