I recommend to take the tour!
I was traveling to Stockholm for a wedding and knew that I wanted to see the city in between all of the wedding events. This hop-on-hop-off made that entirely possible. It was so easy with the three day pass to go and see all the different things, by both bus and boat. I left feeling that I had done a lot of sightseeing and enjoyed a wedding. Very enjoyable -- Thank you.
What to see and do in Stockholm: Although the Swedish capital is spread across 14 islands, exploring the city is very easy. After your boat tour, you’re ready to discover places such as the old town, the museums, palaces and shops. There’s the Royal Palace, and its museums or the 17th-century built Drottningholm Palace to see. The ABBA Museum is for fans and music lovers, and Fotografiska is a contemporary photography museum. For theme park fans, you should head for Grona Lund. Stockholm is stocked with things to do and see.
Top tips of things to try when in Stockholm: You’ll find that since 2016 many of the state museums have had free admission, so well worth taking advantage of that. And make sure to try out the subway, it’s more than just a transport hub. It’s an art gallery. If you fancy visiting the many islands, you should get a Stockholm travel card. The ferries allow the card for transport, so you can explore the island further.
Best time to visit: Like much of Northern Europe the best time to go is during the spring and summer months. Temperatures are warm, and you'll find it has more sunshine than you’d imagine. You may find you get more than you bargained for!! As the midnight sun is around from June to July.
• Head to Skansen, which is found on Djurgården Island. It has the world’s oldest open-air museum. There are historic buildings to visit, and it attracts over a million visitors each year.
• We mentioned trying out the subway, so here’s why. Stations are brimming with art, paintings, mosaics and sculptures, one to look out for include is a vivid rainbow!
• Stockholm is referred to as the Venice of the North. That’s in part to its beautiful buildings and open water.
