Looking for an unusual date during your trip to Rome? Surprise your loved one with this unique kayak ride across Lake Albano in Castel Gandolfo followed by wine and food on the shores of the lake.
Here’s the plan...
You will begin your kayak ride with a short training session and then hit the waters with a guide in tow. As you gently kayak your way, listen to your guide as he tells you the history of Castel Gandolfo and will show you some of the unique historical spots, such as the submerged stilt houses of the Village of the Mills, the villa of the Emperor Domitian, the areas where the naval battles (naumachia) took place, and the trampoline of the popes, where the old popes loved to dive down from their summer residence located in the village above the lake.
In days when it’s hot, your guide will take you to a secluded beach from where you can enjoy a swim in the pristine waters of the lake.
After your kayaking adventure, satiate your taste buds as you dig into local food and wine that this region is known for. Sounds like a good plan, right?
